The Vibes Version is even more beautiful than the classic original and for the Roy Ayers fans, the B-side is an instrumental.This breathtakingly beautiful piece of sublime soul came out of London in 1992.In a era when everybody that wanted to be somebody on the soul scene, was trying to recreate a rare groove, acid jazz sound, Dalstons Finest was just doing his thing.
Ray Hayden came across this smokey, Brooklyn chanteuse and decided her voice would sound good on his music. Danny G supplying synth flute and Neville Malcolm on guitar with Hayden overseeing everything. All three are more than competent on keyboards and the result is a most incredible four and a half minutes of lounge bar soul. In 1992 this release was voted, deservedly so, Best Soul Record of the year by DMC. This particular 12 was a Limited Edition on the Opaz Records label. It features an Instrumental and the bonus track, Nothins Gonna Change, which was a dancefloor killer at the time. Sybil Thomas was the vocalist for Raw Silk (remember Do It To The Music, how manyy times has that acc. You will also hear her voice all over Luther s Never Too Much album. So we have a great voice on this excellent song, we also have a great producer though. The great Nick Martinelli teams up with David Todd on this Watchout Production, to bring us a tune that sounds as good today as it did 25 years ago. This white label (OK, mauve label then) came from nowhere and spread like chinese whispers for a short time. Martine Girault Revival Rar Serial Stamped InThe only info is on the sticker, the serial stamped in the run out on both sides with A-1 B-1 to tell them apart. The reason for this Virgin Promo is the addition of the legendary Roy Ayers playing vibraphone on Loose Ends latest single (at the time, of course) and although they have noted that his appearance is courtesy of CBS Records, they then go and spell his name wrong.
